There is shared hosting and then there is OVERSOLD shared hosting. We will not oversell our servers. We are the only shared hosting company that places a guaranteed limit of 100 on the number of hosts per server. Almost all major shared hosting organizations place as many as 5 and even 10 times as many customers on a similar server. They are gambling that due to the low costs per month, you will not complain about:
- Frequent outages
- Ridiculously slow throttled speeds
- Poor to non-existent support
- Cumbersome and convoluted cancellation process
It's strictly a numbers game to them. They know that for each person that cancels or complains, there are many more that will not complain simply because they think all shared hosting is the same. IT IS NOT. We could try to pump up our offering by calling it the ultra premium Rolls Royce of shared hosting, but that would just be blowing marketing smoke. What we are is fair. We believe our customers deserve to get what they pay for. We're not going to charge a premium price, because we feel that a fair price and a good customer experience will lead to happy customers who tell their friends about us and so on.
The shared hosting industry has a black eye due to the overselling by most if not all of the big names. Here is a simple test for you. We encourage you to ask around. The other shared hosting providers will either refuse to admit how many clients they stuff on to each server or you will be shocked at the number. To see the results of such overcrowding - Google the name of the host and "reviews" or "complaints" to see a cross-section of the experiences of fellow website owners. Then decide for yourself whether you want to experience the pratfalls of oversold hosting.
